Wow playing catch-up big time!

I should be working on homework. I usually go to the 5 o’clock Ethos service and if Logan is leading worship I just hang out until 9pm when him, his brother, and our friend (and my co-worker) Patrick watch Mad Men.

He was leading worship tonight, so I had dinner with some friends and came to drop off some stuff at our (his) apartment. We really need to be saving money, so I thought maybe if we could get ahold of some pots and pans we could cook here more often. Mom thought that was a great idea and we don’t have a shower until Novermber so she loaned us the necessities. ☺

Anyway. I decided to blog while I was here instead of doing thumbnails for homework because I was checking my Facebook and I saw three consecutive wall posts asking about wedding plans. And then I thought to myself “Wouldn’t it be great to be able to tell all those people at once what’s going on? I love them all so much and want them to be a part of this…” and then I remember “Oh right, that’s why I started our wedding planning blog…. Whoops!”

So I am here to fill all of my (few) readers in on what is happening in terms of the wedding planning at this point. First let me say that this Thursday marks THREE MONTHS until our wedding and I just can’t believe it. It has flown by and when at nine months we were dying for it to hurry up, now we’re kind of sad that it has gone by so fast!

So we have sent our Save the Dates. Although a little late, I thought they turned out just great! Logan freelances fulltime now so he got one of the printers he freelances for (and we go to church with him) to print them, and he offered to do them for free! So we got to splurge on the envelopes we loved (string tie) and it really just came together quite nicely. Unfortunately, we are still trying to scrounge up the last few addresses which stinks because it’s kind of pointless now… but oh well. I’m anxious to start designing our invitations just to make sure we get them out in time but there just doesn’t seem to be much time.. especially with my schoolwork hitting hard now.

My dress, jewelry, veil, and shoes are bought! All that I have left is a garter (Etsy!) and underwear. I can’t decide what kind of underwear. I want something sweet and bridal but also fun because only I will know I’m wearing them…

Logan and I planned out the ceremony the other day on the drive back to his parent’s house after we went to one of his best friend’s rehearsals. He has a lot more opinions than I do about the ceremony, so I’m letting him call most of the shots. For instance, I could care less how the bridesmaids walk in and he really wants them to be paired with groomsmen coming in and leaving. My sister loves this idea so that she doesn’t “look awkward.” I have also spent ENDLESS hours looking for the very perfect ceremony music but to no avail. ☹ I wanted something different but not super trendy or alternative… and I still wanted all instrumental, live music. Logan was pretty insistent that he wanted traditional music, so I gave in and we compromised with Canon in D played live on an acoustic guitar. I hope it goes well… We’ll see?

The reception is really the focus for me right now. We’re having it at Woodmont, so basically we have a HUGE massive white room and an outer lobby to do whatever we want with. Logan had the fabulous idea of booking his brother-in-law’s Dad’s 80’s cover band so that will definitely liven up the space! My mom and I have been collected vintage tins and cans and bottles all summer, so they will be the centerpieces. Then there was this period where I really wanted to hang mason jars in the middle of the room above the dance floor to give the effect of a chandelier… I mean, I have THREE HUNDRED mason jars ready to hang. But the ceiling is so high that it would be such a pain in the butt… So instead I am really hoping to rent antique street lights and place them on 1.5’ pedestals and hanging raw bulb street lights from them… either in a grid across the whole room or just in lines on both sides of the dance floor with the string lights going across…. But unfortunately it has been HORRIBLY DIFFICULT to find street lights for rent in Nashville! Every part of the country has them except for the Southeast… which is just getting to be the most frustrating thing I’m dealing with right now… Oh and since I have those mason jars and we probably aren’t hanging them, I think I’m going to build super simple stands (like three pieces of wood) for the middle of the tables to have four hanging jars. ☺ That way it adds light, height, and décor! Hurray!

We’ve talked to our caterer but we haven’t decided on a menu yet… so that should probably get done soon…. Ahha. My mom and I are so laid back about this planning process. I kind of just feel like “it’s going to happen, so what does it matter?” at this point. I’m just excited to move in with my favorite person (lame and cheesy but true).

Hmm… what else is going on with my wedding… The bridesmaids have their dresses ordered… tea length lace dresses with cream sashes and I’m hoping to find them all short black gloves, but we’ll see if that happens.

Oh! And I was at a wedding this weekend and I discovered a new flower I can add! We are doing all white flowers with dusty miller (a grey-blue leafy plant) and some black from anemonies (black centers) and black holly-like berries… But at Logan’s friend’s wedding Hayley put a cactus in her bouquets that were called succulents. They come in all different colors but they have ones the color of the dusty miller! So I’m hoping I can add those to the bridesmaids bouquets so that mine looks a little more white… ha.

Logan and I have to finish registering... We’ve successfully registered at Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma but we are waiting for Target and keep pushing it back. Our first shower is November 7th, and I think we have SIX after that so we need to get on that ASAP..

We are buying sodas in glass bottles for our favors, and I think my mom and I are just going to start getting a few cases every time we go to the grocery so we can stock up. The idea is for us to get an assortment, but we’ll have to see what actually happens…

Our photographer, Justin Wright, who is WONDERFUL (justinwrightphoto.com) is setting up a photobooth for us!! I’m so pumped, and he will post the pictures online for people to download and print off! ☺ I hope this makes our reception more enjoyable. ☺

I can’t think of much else to update on, my sister and brother are renting us a 1950s Bentley to ride away in and I’m pretty pumped about it. And we’re going to Cabo San Lucas which will be FABULOUS. Beach. January. Fish tacos. I can’t wait!! Logan is living in our apartment now, which is in Green Hills about two seconds from school (where I’ll be working when I graduate, so that’s awesome for us) and our internet gets installed tomorrow along with a new oven, compliments of his aunt’s mom (our landlord)! We have our paint colors picked out and we’re just waiting to find the time to actually paint. It will be so exciting!! And I can’t help but go into EVERY furniture store I see haha. I hope I get over that….

Welp I love you all and I hope this has been helpful and as exciting as it was for me to think about, I have to head to my future brother-in-laws to watch our favorite show!! I’ll try to be better about updating this!
