A Big Flip

Whew. This weekend was just incredible. Logan picked up a new piece of furniture from a man on Craigslist (a TV stand for us - finally!) while I got my haircut (I know, I'm spoiled), and after napping for awhile I spent most of the rest of the day painting the dining chair I've been waiting all week to flip! We ended the lazy day with a birthday party for a special friend, and I really couldn't have planned a better Saturday.

Sunday was about the same: we both had to serve at the 5pm Ethos service, so we planned on sleeping in, but I was up at 8am and ready to start the day. I made Logan waffles while he slept (there's nothing I love more than surprising my sweetie with breakfast!), and I started to finish the chair until breakfast time. Around 9ish he got up, enjoyed his waffles, and we watched an episode of "Twin Peaks" (our recent addiction, although he speeds through series and it takes me awhile).

After that nice break, I put the last coat of paint and clear coat onto the chair, and firmly secured the back upholstery to the frame!

I'm behind on posting a lot of projects on here.. Like I mentioned last time, I finally made something (wonderful) to go above our bed, and I've been working on the Victorian chair (yes - I know, it felt like the day would never come), but I'm just too excited about this to post about anything else!

A little background about the chair: I got it last week at Goodwill for $15. UNFORTUNATELY the ignorant previous owner CUT OUT all of the cane backing, which is truly ashame because there is nothing like a good cane-backed chair. And I've wanted one for forever so when I discovered this I was VERY upset. That's really about all there is to tell, besides the fact that the joints are loose and I plan on tightening them as soon as possible. :)

So... Here is is!

Oh, and one last thing! I've posted so many step-by-steps lately that I didn't on this one (just a few shots of the process). However, I'm no magician and I'd be happy to explain how to do this at any point! I just didn't want to bore everyone with yet another guide to something that isn't all that hard. :) So just let me know, and I'll be glad to spill!

Enjoy! Hopefully there will be more of these to come... I have a feeling dining chairs are going to be my new favorite refurb... :)

Much love!
-Jill
