Window Shopping

So I have put a lot on my plate recently. Wait... I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start over.

Out of all the character traits and qualities that my parents genetically blessed me with, discipline has never been one of them. I can't seem to stick to a diet for a day, wake up earlier than just enough time to get ready, or function at complete 100% productivity on a weekend. However, lately, things have been different.

And it JUST hit me that I prayed for extra discipline a couple of months ago! Wow, God is always blowing my mind!

Anyway. Back to where I began. I have a lot on my plate lately... I just have had so much ambition (I like to credit that to my super-ambitious and successful husband) and drive lately to really accomplish my dreams. So I've started a pricing guide for designing wedding invitations and birth announcements, since I'm working on my fourth and I have yet to really get anything together. I'm making crafts and actually trying to sell them (er... I'm going to... still working on that), and I'm still Found&Found-ing my days up with Craigslist deals for the Nashville community! Oh, and I'm thinking about becoming a teacher.

So I'm going to do a little advertising here, since, this is my own blog. :)

1. Wedding Invitations, Birth Announcements, Event Invitations, etc.
I have yet to make a name for myself (I'm still hoping at some point we can make Logan's freelance business - Hartline Studio - into "Hartline Studio: His & Hers" and have two separate identities for the things we, as husband (his) and wife (hers) offer), but if you have friends who are getting married and want a custom designed invitation (yes, custom, I will make it from scratch to their EXACT liking!), send them my way! I can offer a really reasonable price - comparable to, but cheaper than, Wedding Paper Divas.. so I think I'm worth checking out - if I don't say so myself. :) And I can take care of everything from designing, to printing, to stuffing (if they opt for the stuffing). So, begin spreading the word!

2. Crafts: Particularly, Windows
This was the entire reason I wanted to write on here, because I got so excited about these windows I've been making. I mentioned the antique windows and the cork board/chalk board I made out of mine in my last post, but I made one for my Aunt Nina tonight and tweeted it. I got four (maybe serious, maybe not so serious) requests for more! The plan all along was to start selling them on Etsy, but I think I'll start local. Maybe just at work, friends, Craigslist, etc. Windows are heavy - I don't want to deal with shipping. Here's a picture of Aunt Nina's...

But I can also do fabric over the cork (if wanted), or switch up the panes according to what people want (ie: all chalk, all cork, checkerboard, etc.). I'm planning on making a ton of different kinds - some white boards, some with hooks, some painted and decorated, etc. But for now - these are selling for $50 ($5-$10 extra for extra features like fabric, etc.) so if you'd like one, let me know! :) And tell your friends! On Etsy and in most stores they sell for $80-$120 so you're getting a deal! And, come on, who doesn't love a great memo board? :)

I'm loving F&F, although it has turned out to be a HUGE commitment.. I can't complain. I just LOVE helping people find great deals! There is so much money to be saved, so many great pieces to find, AND so much refurbishing to be done! I just have to share that with people. I'm crossing my fingers that F&F will be mentioned in an article coming out in the Nashville Lifestyles magazine... A friend of a friend was writing an article on favorite Nashville Twitter accounts and F&F was mentioned as one - so we'll see! If not, no biggie. We're definitely still suuuuper small. :) OH. But GET THIS. I get a lot of requests to keep my eyes out for certain pieces of furniture for people, so usually I just tag them in posts regarding something they may be interested in. But today - I hit the JACKPOT. A former classmate of mine asked if I could keep my eye out for a cool vintage couch for his girlfriend - she had a robin's egg blue living room he told me. So I've been looking for the perfect couch and today it came to me. $100. Looks like it's straight out of Anthropologie and SHE GOT IT!!! I was so nervous it would sell too fast - check this beaut out:

Yeah. I know.. right?!! Only $100!! I'm so happy for her, and I'm so happy that someone I (sort of) know will get to love and use this incredible find. So anyway, Found&Found is going well!

And finally,

4. My Masters Degree
Yes. I said it. I am thinking about getting a Masters of Education so I can teach art. I know, I know. You see me teaching highschool students (at least that's what everyone says). No, I'm interested in teaching elementary because I firmly believe that my love of art began in elementary art class. So I'm kind of just sitting around overwhelmed about that right now, but pretty soon I'll be getting a study book for either the MAT or the GRE and talking to the Graduate Admissions office about it. Plus, it would be SO stupid of me not to get it while it's free at Lipscomb (staff discount). I mean, really. So... we'll see how all of this stuff on my plate works out once that gets started...

Okay that's a full recap. I'm sleepy (it's wayyy past my bedtime!) and work is getting crazy. I'm writing an Online Media Strategy Report and it's not easy, guys. But it's been an awesome experience and I'm going to be so thankful when I have a plan to work by with our social media. But anyway.

Oh, and PS... any ideas for a name for myself? For my Etsy and my invitations and stuff? It can be the same name for all of it, or a different one for each... Thoughts, opinions, and ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Sweet dreams!! I love you all!

-Jill
